Circa 1890. A bound volume of seven typescript plays written by James Stanley Little, with many manuscript alterations and inserts. I. DEVIL CARESFOOT. A play in a prologue and four acts. Being an adaptation of Mr. Rider Haggard’s novel Dawn. ‘This play has been written by Messrs C. Haddon Chambers and J. Stanley Little under a special arrangement with Mr H. Rider haggard, the Author of the novel “DAWN” upon which it is founded. No other Dramatists have or will have Mr Haggard’s permission to dramatize the same novel.’ II. DOUBT. A drama in four acts. A drama in four acts by “Fide et Amore.” [Signed, James Stanley Little.] Approximately 500 leaves, typed on one side only. Bound in full buckram, gilt. Quarto. Bookplate of James Stanley Little to the front flyleaf, together with is signature. Front joint splitting; white paint staining to the rear panel. Else, very good. James was a Journalist and author of 12 British published books. He wrote many articles and journals. and was Executive Secretary of the Society of Authors from June 1887–January 1889, plus 19 century Shelly Club etc. He lived at "Chichele" Penn Hill Ave Parkhurst, Dorset.
