James was a Journalist and author of 12 British published books. He wrote many articles and journals. and was Executive Secretary of the Society of Authors from June 1887–January 1889, plus 19 century Shelly Club etc. He lived at "Chichele" Penn Hill Ave Parkhurst, Dorset.
