Circa 1820: 1820. A miniature peepshow measuring 50 x60 mm (landscape), and some 170 mm deep when fully extended. Comprising of six hand-coloured engraved panels, the first five having cut-outs, so that the scene can be viewed three-dimensionally when placed to the eye. The scene depicted is that of a rural idyll. The location is probably France or Germany. The original slipcase is missing so there is no imprint or date, but circa 1820, and of French or possibly German origin. The bellows have been restored; the cloth slipcase is recent. Miniature peepshows are extremely rare.
