    London: Published October 12th 1789, by E. Newbery the corner of St. Pauls Ch Yard & J. Wallis No. 16 Ludgate Street of whom may be had Dissected Tables of English History. An engraved sheet depicting medallion portraits of thirty-two rulers of Rome from Romulus to Augustus Caesar, mounted on mahogany and dissected to form a teaching aid. Completed size: 425 x 595 mm. Original mahogany box with mounted pictorial label; and small chart, listing the emperors pasted to the inside of the box. The title on the dissection reads: ‘Chronological Tables of Roman History from the Foundation of the city to the Augustan Age.’ An excellent example with no missing lugs or signs of wear. See Hannas page 93.

OCLC records only a copy in the Osborne Library, lacking three cards. COPAC records a copy held by the Bodleian Library that appears to lack its original case.

Very slight wear to the corner of a few cards; else excellent.

Case: 17 x 13 cm. Though lacking two of the moveable figures - another figure has lost a hand - this is the most complete example we have handled. Some wear and lioght foxing; else very good.

Manufactured by Appointment of the Patentee by Muir, Wood & Co: and Sold Wholesale and retail at their Warehouse No. 17 Leith Street, opposite the Terrace, Edinburgh and by Mr. Thomas Preston, No. 97, Strand London. No date[circa 1801]. Mahogany box with inlaid borders of boxwood and ebony, hinged to open flat and constitute a playing board, covered with stipple engravings representing a pianoforte keyboard, staves, leger lines, etc. and with holes for pegs. One side of the playing board has a removable central lid, covering three storage compartments numbered from 1 to 10. Two drawers contain 16 ivory dice engraved on the sides with sharps, flats, key signatures numbers, etc. together with two small circular boxes containing large and small ivory disc, and ivory pieces, bone and wooden pegs of various shapes and sizes representing clefs, key signatures, notes etc. Box: 44 x 27 x 11 cm. Lacks some pieces; splitting to one board where the wood has shrunk over time; box has some loss of veneer; but a remarkably good example of this rare and important game. A printing of the original patent with the rules is supplied.
