A panoramic pull-out book of 12 panels, of which, four bear text and the remaining 8, hand-coloured engravings; folding into original wrappers; the upper panel title and bearing an engraving of Tom Thumb. Extended: 108 x 12 cm. Folded: 12 x 10 cm. Worn and chipped and creased, with one joint splitting, but a rare survival. Contained in a modern cloth and paper case. The Hockliffe project website has another title in the same series: Old Mother Goose.

The wood blocks were clearly assembled from whatever was to hand, as, in one illustration, Tom is represented by a buxom shepherdess. A very good copy.
