THE TRANSVAAL WAR ALBUM. The British Forces in South Africa An Album, wherein the various Regiments and other principal Units of the Forces engaged in The Boer Campaign of 1899-1900, are illustrated. Portraits are also given of the Generals who have conducted the operations, and the staff and Regimental Officers who have organized and lead the British and Colonial Forces.

Between pp 240 and 241 are four leaves published by Boots with a poem: "The Handy Man" by Harold Begbie: text in red, illustrations in blue and white, all printed in landscape. Original green cloth with title on spine and title and vignette on front cover embossed in gilt; bevelled edges to boards and decorative end-papers. Folio. Boards rubbed and a little bumped at the extremities; head and tail of spine pulled with very minor damage. Slight browning to end-papers and slight cracking at inner hinges but boards holding firm. A small bump to the outer edge of the text block at front free end-paper with a small tear with decreasing damage affecting the first 27 pages. Small tear to left-hand landscape edge of first leaf of Begbie publication. A very good copy.Date suggestion from copy in The National Library of Scotland.
