PETER PAN PANORAMA.

Canterbury: The Canterbury Bookshop, 2006. Printed full-colour panorama of 24 panels, measuring, when fully extended, 11 x 336 centimetres, mounted on stout card and folding into card covers tied with silk ribbons. Limited edition of 500 copies. This is a paper reproduction of a 44 feet long linen nursery frieze designed and worked by Helen Stebbing, M.R.S.T. A member of the Embroidery Guild and an Arts and Crafts silver medalist, she designed and created this unique piece, to be hung in an unknown child's nursery, in 1936/7. The frieze is set on a blue linen background with appliqué linen figures and decoration, worked with coloured silk embroidery. Probably taken down during the Blitz to preserve it, the frieze is in near pristine condition, and we suspect it was never re-hung after the War, but carefully stored away. This is the first occasion that this wonderful piece of needlework has been reproduced. A donation from every sale goes to support Great Ormond Street Hospital.
