G. W.'s Dioramic Views, No. 4. ITALIAN BANDITS.
London: Reeves and Son... E. Morgan, No date [circa 1835.]. Mounted hand-coloured lithographic transformational print, 283 x 225 mm., with mounted label below. 'On raising this Print against the light all the changes of light & shade are produced from the brilliancy & sunshine of Noon, to the darkness & obscurity of Midnight.. A fire becomes kindled by which the Bandits appear warming themselves… the sun sunk beneath the Horizon, the Moon supplies its place, the lights from the distant Convent reflect with trembling motion on the surface of the water; gratifying the Spectator with one of the most perfect and pleasing illusions that can be imagined. The effect is seen best by candlelight.' Some browning and spotting, else very good.
