No obvious manufacturer, but of German origin, circa 1910, and bearing the trademark: BC jr. A full-colour mosaic of a steam engine, numbering over 100 wooden pieces, which can be arranged to form five pictures of the train and its carriages. Contained in the original cardboard box with pictorial lid showing one scene; loosely laid in is a sheet showing the four other scenes. Box a little worn, else excellent. Mosaic games of this size are rarely found complete.

A hand-coloured lithographed sheet cut into sixteen sections and mounted on linen; contained, when folded, in a cloth gilt slipcase together with 20 page book of rules and explanation. Unfolded: 20 x 6 inches. Covers of book restored at spine, lower blank corner of game worn; else a very good and clean copy One of the most attractive table games of the period and possibly the first to replace the conventional map with a pictorial representation of the counties. Paris: Dondorf No. 314, No date [circa 1900]. Comprising 36 pictorial cards featuring scenes from Struwwelpeter, all contained in the original pictorial cardboards box. Small rub on the box lid; lacks the sheet of rules which is sometimes loose in the box and sometimes glued to the underside of the box lid. However, in this copy the rule sheet appears to have been glued the wrong way around. A very good copy nevertheless.

Original pictorial printed boards with red roan spine, gilt, being an unrecorded issue of the book by Knevett, Arliss, and Baker. 12mo. One plate with a clean tear without loss; another plate a little browned; some occasional marking; binding rubbed; else a very good copy of a scarce title. Moon 14(2). First published in 1805. Mrs. Moon does not record a copy bound in pictorial boards, with this variant imprint. Games included are cricket, blind-man’s buff, archery, leap frog, marbles, foot-ball, etc.

The box lid bears the imprint of J. Passmore, who took over Edward Wallis’s business in 1847. Slight wear to lid; else a very nice example.

Each has a title-page with an engraved vignette; the fourth volume has a folding plate entitled, 'Enigmatical Dinner.' Fairly recent half calf, gilt over marbled boards. 16 x 10 cm. Very slight fading of spine; folding plate worn at fold and repaired from the blank verso; else very good.

London: Wm. Darton. 58, Holborn Hill, No date [circa 1818]. A hand-coloured engraving, divided into twelve and mounted on linen. Unfolded: 568 x 440 mm. Folds into a paper-covered slipcase with a mounted title label top the front panel and another, smaller label, to the lower. Lacks the original eight-page book of rules, which are supplied in manuscript. Some wear to the slipcase with a small loss of paper; else very good. The book of rules states, ‘It is designed with a view to promoting progressive Improvement of the Juvenile Mind, and to deter them from pursuing the dangerous Paths of Vice.’
