'On raising this Print gradually against the light it will be seen to undergo a complete change from noonday to midnight at which time the Church appears entirely enveloped in darkness with the exception of those parts lit up for the observance of Mass...the empty chairs become occupied by devotees, the lamps and chandeliers appear to be suddenly ignited.. casting their dim light on the Monuments around. The effect is seen best by candle light.' Few spots on mount, else very good.

'On raising this Print against the light all the changes of light & shade are produced from the brilliancy & sunshine of Noon, to the darkness & obscurity of Midnight.. A fire becomes kindled by which the Bandits appear warming themselves… the sun sunk beneath the Horizon, the Moon supplies its place, the lights from the distant Convent reflect with trembling motion on the surface of the water; gratifying the Spectator with one of the most perfect and pleasing illusions that can be imagined. The effect is seen best by candlelight.' Some browning and spotting, else very good.
