An edition of only 450 copies. Some water-staining to boards and some wrinkling to pages; strained and cracked at inner joints; spine splitting at heel; else a very good copy of this scarce Struwwelpeter imitation. See Baumgartner Vol. 1 Page 51. Loosely laid-in is Programme of the '100th Penny Reading to be given in the Upper School of Marlborough College on Saturday November 7th 1908.' Item 6 is a 'Reading' by A.de C. Williams. The title of the reading, 'The Monkey's Law,' has been added in pencil, and the observation that it was, 'a badly-read ghost-story, which nobody appreciated.' The programme is badly water-stained.

Loosely laid, but once pinned to the front endpaper, is a manuscript poem by Arthur de Coetlogon Williams, presumably in his own hand, with a list of the prizes he won between 1907 and 1908. In pencil in another hand, 'Keep this Poem written by Arthur.' Also laid in is an original pen and ink and watercolour sketch by the author, signed and date for January 1900, of two soldiers walking through a barren landscape. The sketch looks to have taken from album. On the Dedication leaf of the book is written the owner's name and address, which would appear to be in the same hand as the pencil inscription on the poem – probably a family member.
