Spine repaired with an overlay of paper; the chapbook sewn into modern wrappers with a typed title label to the upper panel. Rare. The British Library has what looks to be the same chapbook, but with, ‘Bow-lane’ added to the address, which they date, circa 1750, so it’s possible that the above copy is a little earlier than 1780.

Contemporary calf sometime nicely re-backed and the corners repaired. First edition of this abridgement. Crossed through ownership name on front endpaper, dated 1796; the occasional mark; else a very good copy. The third and final volume of the first edition of the work was published in 1789, so this abridgement by Richard Johnson, was promptly into print.
