    THE TALE OF JOHNNY TOWN-MOUSE.

London: Frederick Warne and Co, No date. (1918.). Original grey boards with mounted illustration. Original printed dust-wrapper. First edition. First issue, but with the 'N' in London. Wrapper chipped and worn; little bumped at top outer corner; else a near fine copy. The title-page of this work is undated, but a First Edition of December 1918 can be determined by the absence of “Ltd” from Warne’s imprint on the title-page. The second printing was issued in June 1919, when Ltd was added to the imprint. Much is made of the missing N from London that some copies have. Clearly, this printing error does not constitute a separate edition, it merely attests that a number of the first printing escaped from the press before the error was spotted.
