A CHILD'S HISTORY OF ENGLAND. With a frontispiece by F. W. Topham.
London: Bradbury & Evans, 1852, 53, 54. Three volumes. Original pictorial cloth, gilt. First edition set. First issues. Volume I had wear to head & heel of spine, with small loss of cloth; some spotting to endpapers, half-title and blank recto of frontispiece; one signature a little proud. Volume II has light spotting to endpapers, half-title and blank recto of frontispiece. Volume III has light spotting to recto of frontispiece. Volume I has two inscriptions on the half-title. The first reads, 'I give you this dear Wife on your Birthday for our little one, with the earnest hope that she may one day be enabled to read it with interest & profit. 7 Priory Terrace, March 12th 1852. The second inscription, probably by a descendent, is dated 1923. Some fading to the covers on the spines, but a very good set.
