Original brown pictorial cloth, gilt. All edges gilt. Octavo. Contained in a modern morocco-backed folding box. First U.K. edition and the first edition in English (the first American edition being prepared from the English sheets). Inner hinges cracked and owner-repaired – though not clumsily. Binding a little rubbed with some bumping to the head & heel and slight wear to the corners, but a very good copy of a book normally found in a distressed state.
