First edition. Author's own copy, with his armorial bookplate to each volume. Loosely laid in to volume I, is a single folio sheet reprint of Little's appreciation of his good friend Henry Rider Haggard, dated May 18th 1925. Tipped-in at start and signed by Little, is a cutting from The Whitehall Review, August 3rd 1882, entitled, 'Portraits in Words,' its subject being Cetewayo. Some foxing at the start and end of both volumes; both volumes rubbed with the loss of surface leather, else a very good set of a unique copy of a scarce title.
