[51] leaves with two columns of text printed landscape, the verso of the last leaf being printed portrait. The columns are numbered consecutively. Illustrated with black and white full-page engravings and smaller ones in the text; with 10 full-page lithographic illustrations, extra to paging, some of which are coloured by hand. Title-page and dedication with vignettes. Original publisher's cloth, blind embossed and illustrated in gilt. Folio. Covers dust-soiled, bumped at the corners with cloth missing and chipped and bumped at the edges; some fading to upper margin of back board. Cloth on spine is mostly missing. Splitting at the inner hinges with boards very loose. End-papers dust soiled. Some spotting to the illustrations affecting the margins, but a good plus copy that would benefit from some restoration.
