Vol. I: xxiii, [2], 2 - 614 pp. Vol. II: xxxiii, [2], 2 - 600. pp. Vol III: xxiv, [1], 684 pp. Plates: [3], 2 - 18, [1], 68 chromo-lithograph colour plates with guards. Vols I, II and III have black and white illustrations. Half bound red morocco, gilt over marble boards. Bound from the original parts issued with the original illustrated paper wrappers bound in the back of each volume. Large 8vo. First edition. Slight damage to head of spine of Vol. I with small loss of leather; 'Plates' volume has small a chip to the marbling of the upper panel; Otherwise the bindings have only slight scratches and chips and some darkening to the spine. All vol's have superficial splitting at inner hinges and occasional light spotting to text. Vol I: Pp xxi -34 have very lightly buckled upper corners. Plates are mostly very clean although guards have light browning and spotting. All volumes have previous owner's book-plate on front free end-paper. A very good set bound from parts.
