There is an ownership inscription covering all of the title-page, 'Tho Henry Graham presented to him by his neighbour Wm John Bowman of Irthington grandson of old Robert Bowman of Irthington who died at Irthington on June 13th 1823 and was baptised at Hayton in 1705. A.D. This memoir is now out of print and it is difficult to procure a copy, I value it much as being the account of an old neighbour of my family whom I first became acquainted with in the year 1810.'
