THE NEW CARTHAGINIANS.
London.R.T.S. - Lutterworth Press. 1940. 254pp. Original blue cloth with black lettering. Octavo. First edition. Slightly cocked; little rubbed at head & heel of spine; else a very good copy. Doris Twinn's own copy with her name and address on the fixed front endpaper. Attached to the verso of the title is a photograph of a woman holding a cat, identified beneath in Twinn's hand, as Mrs. Carter, with Moses. Opposite, on the dedication page, are thirteen lines of manuscript in Twinn's hand, initialled by her, giving biographical details of Mrs. Carter, who appears in the novel as a character. We have another presentation copy of this title, bound in orange cloth with gilt titling, which may simply be a variant; or, more likely, would indicate that the copy above, bound in blue and issued without free endpapers, is a second issue.
