Original green pictorial cloth, gilt, showing a man taking a reading with a sextant within a circle on the front cover, and a man at the helm of a ship within a panel on the spine. Second 'Smith' edition. Re-cased and endpapers replaced. Some spotting and finger-marking here & there throughout; a few tiny occasional tears in blank margins; spine repaired at head and heel with some small loss to the gilt decoration. Else a very good copy of a very early edition.
