THE OLD FAVOURITE TALES with coloured pictures.
London: Dean & Son, 11 Ludgate Hill, No date [circa 1850]. A compilation volume of separately published Dean toybooks, mounted on linen and bound together with a general title-page and frontispiece. pages. Hand-coloured engravings throughout. The individual titles are: New Story about Little tommy Tucker; The Story of the Three Tiny Pigs; The Story of the Three Little Kittens; The Story of the Three Bears; Tom Thumb; Story of Jack and the Bean-stalk; Cock Robin and Jenny Wren; Cocky Locky and Henny Penny; The Death and Burial of Cock Robin; The History of Merry Brother Jonathan; Old Mother Goose; Old Mother Hubbard; Little Bo Peep; The Queen of Hearts and the Stolen Tarts; The Five Funny Little Pigs; Dick Whittington; The Butterfly’s Ball and the Grasshopper’s Feast; The Story of the Children in the Wood; The Story of Little Red Riding Hood. Not all of these titles would have been separate publications, some would have been Dean compilations already; and such is the construction of the book, it is almost impossible to determine which is which. Original cloth gilt, sometime re-backed in leather gilt. 220 x 145 mm. The book has undergone some restoration when re-bound, and two leaves have been restored, one with the loss of some text. However, this would appear to be rare title.
