Inscribed on front flyleaf, ‘Miss Barclay with love from Helen Buchan March 1917.’ Loosely laid in is a greeting card with a real photograph of the countryside mounted on the front cover, and inscribed ‘To dear Miss Barclay from Anna Buchan.’ Laid inside is a real photographic postcard showing Anna Buchan at her desk. It is signed, ‘O Douglas,’ the pseudonym she used for her novels. A very good copy. The memoir is of John Buchan, the father of John Buchan, the author of ‘The Thirty-Nine Steps.’ Helen Buchan is the wife of John Buchan [the elder] and the mother of John Buchan the author. Anna Buchan is John Buchan and Helen Buchan’s daughter, and John Buchan’s sister.
