Some expert repairs to spines; one leaf has a vertical printing fault, partly obscuring some type; else an excellent set of this important and highly influential work. Berquin's most famous achievement was L'Ami des Enfants, a work published in Paris in twenty-four monthly instalments between 1782 and 1783. The London edition, though still in French, followed in 1783/4. The subscriber’s list to the London edition contains, among some 160 names, those of Mrs. Fenn, Mrs. Barbauld, Lady Charlotte Finch, and Hannah More.
