(WALLIS’S) KEY TO THE NEW TESTAMENT.
LOndon: J. Wallis…, 1813. Hand-coloured engraved sheet mounted on mahogany and dissected in to 29 pieces to form a puzzle. Together with a 32 p book entitled, ‘ A Key to the New testament,’ in original wrappers. All contained in the original mahogany box with mounted label. One piece damaged with loss. Small area of loss to label. Else a very good example of this rare dissected puzzle. Hannas records an earlier form of this puzzle, issued in 1807, by the same publisher, but with a slightly different label to the box. This issue is unknown to her. She lists two examples of the earlier issue: an incomplete copy in the Victoria & Albert Museum and a copy in her own collection that lacks the book.
