Hand-coloured engraved frontispiece, and 13 other plates by William Mulready, coloured by hand. The colouring of the plates is very subtle and skilfully done, and we suspect it’s of a slightly late date; the absence of a manuscript price of 1/6 on the front wrapper, which is usually present on a coloured copy, would support that. Original printed wrappers with vignettes of a butterfly and grasshopper to upper cover, bordered by two trails of intertwined leaves. Book-list on lower cover of eight items. First edition; first issue. Some wear to spine; some occasional light spotting; else an excellent copy of this, Harris’s most famous publication, which spawned numerous imitations.
