THE SCIENCE OF BOTANY according to the System of Linnaeus. By Madlle de Cely.

London: No imprint, but E. Wallis, No date [circa 1829]. Comprising of 54 hand-coloured engraved cards (one supplied in facsimile), divided into question and answer cards, all contained in the original slipcase with a mounted hand-coloured label. One answer card supplied in facsimile; lacks the rule sheet; case a little worn; else very good. Rare. We have had a boxed version of this game, the second edition of 1829, which also came with a small book of 32 pages, entitled, ‘Botanical grammar, by Questions and Answers, intended to render the method of playing with the botanical card more easy to young people.’ Now it may be that the above issue of the game, preceded the boxed game which is the stated, ‘Second Edition.’ However, we can’t say for certain, but it’s a possibility. Both states of the cards are rare.
