Some spotting, some off-setting to plates as is usually the case with this title; name on half-title; calling card on endpaper; spine expertly repaired; else a very good copy. Inscribed on the half-title: ‘For dear Tony [or Jenny or Fanny, it’s hard to determine which] Pratt from the author.’ The author has also added, both to the half-title and to the cover title, the words ‘of Sentiment’. The title of the first edition of 1811 was, Felissa; or, The Life and Opinions of a Kitten of Sentiment. The author is unknown, but an attribution has been made to Elizabeth Ludlow - also to Charles Lamb, though this inscription is not is his hand.
