The recto of the frontispiece bears a small pictorial bookplate designed by Arthur Gaskin, inscribed: ‘Georgie Evelyn Cave France, from Arthur.’ Schuster & Engen, 14 12a). Few light spots; boards a little rubbed; slightly loose; else a very good copy with a wonderful association, having been given by Arthur Gaskin to Georgie France in the year of their marriage. Georgie Evelyn Cave France (1866-1934), the elder daughter of William Hanmer France, contractor's agent, and his wife, Frances Emily Cave-Brown-Cave, attended the Birmingham School of Art where she met fellow student Arthur Gaskin (1862-1928). They married on 21st March 1894. The couple lived in Acocks Green, Birmingham and later in Olton, Solihull. Both artists took to jewellery making as a second career when both were mature artists.
