London.T. C. and E. C. Jack, Limited. 1914 - 1917. Five volumes (all published) of this history of The Great War for children. All volumes are illustrated with maps, photographs, illustrations in black & white and colour frontispieces and the occasional coloured plate. All are fine copies in their original pictorial dust-wrappers. The dust-wrapper to volume one has a some old crease marks; the dust-wrapper for volume five has a small chip missing from the head. Three volumes have identical presentation inscriptions, but all have come from the same private library. An excellent set.Presumably when this publication commenced the War was expected to end quickly. By the time that Volume Five was published in 1917 it appeared interminable, and the enterprise ran out of steam.
