Illustrated with six tinted lithographs. Original printed boards. Octavo. First German edition. Volume one has some slight wear to binding with some loss of the blue paper, and some light water-staining at the start of the text. Else a handsome set, rarely found in the original boards. Both volumes contained in a folding morocco-backed gilt box. The first publication in Germany of Andersen’s famous fairy tales, containing, among others, The Nightingale, The Red Shoes, The Tin Soldier, The Snow Queen; The Wild Swans.
