SOLFEGE DU JEUNE ÂGE, Francais et Anglais. Composé par A. Elwart. Professeur au Conservatoire de Musique. Lithographié sous sa Direction. Dédié à Melle Migne de Jouffroy.
No imprint or date, but almost certainly Paris, circa 1840. A panorama of twenty three sections, twenty pages bearing hand-coloured lithographs illustrating a musical examples; three, music; the twenty-fourth leaf, which is the title, is mounted, as issued on the front cover. Extended: 260 x 15 cm. Folded: 16 x 12.5 cm. Spine expertly repaired; some folds strengthened from the blank versos; else a very good copy of a rare educational piece for teaching music. The text is in both French and English. Antoine Elwart (1808-1877) was a highly successful composer who taught at the Paris Conservatoire. He received the Legion of Honour for his services to music.
