Description Full dark blue morocco gilt prize binding; marbled edges. Octavo. Bookplates; corners and spine tips a little rubbed; else a very handsome copy. The Ayenbite of Inwyt was written by the French Dominican friar Laurent in 1279 for the use of Philip II of France, and entitled Le Somme des Vices at des Vertues. Its translation was completed in1340 by Dan Michel of Northgate, a Benedictine monk of St Augustine, Canterbury.
