Description 2 page ad's; title[xviii], 72pp. Title to A TOKEN FOR CHILDREN The Second Part. Being A farther Account of the Conversion, Holy and Exemplary Lives, and Joyful Deaths of several other Young Children, not published in The First Part. [vi]; 87; 1pp. ad'. Original plain sheep. 12mo. This book is very well used, rather tired and has had the benefit of some earlier restoration. Generally, the corners are turned, there is some marginal chipping of the text block; some signatures a little sprung; some tears; the binding is very worn and splitting at the spine. There are a couple of worm-holes in the fore-edges. Specific faults are as follows: pages 1 & 2 of the First Part have had some marginal paper restoration - not affecting the text; pages 58/59 have a repaired tear, as have pages 67/68, and pages 3/4, 57/58, 59/60, 61/62, of The Second Part. Page 3 of the second part also has a printing fault, lacking some words of text from the lower outer corner. Pages 67/68 also have a printing fault: the text being jumbled in the lower outer corner. Pages 21/22, 67/68 both have a small hole in the leaf resulting in a tiny loss of text. Generally the copy is well used and tired. However, copies this early are rare. This morbid nursery classic which started a fashion for such confessions was first published in 1672.
